Being a little useless at the whole feeding myself thing, I went to the grocery store equipped with a bunch of coupons for candy and cookies and was fairly pleased when I saved 49%. I saved basically $40 on unhealthy food. Today. Vons. Continue reading “Haul blog: GROCERY STORE”

Warming up to Warm Bodies
At the beginning of the year when I was compiling my list of the top films of 2013 — really all of the 2013 films I’ve seen* I put Warm Bodies at the bottom of the list. As time has gone by, I didn’t quite remember why I ranked Warm Bodies so lowly and so I just re-watched the film to see if it actually merited being ranked below Planes and The Lone Ranger.
Testicles and Blow Job Bribes – We’re the Millers
I saw We’re the Millers today. I laughed. I’m ranking it at 20 out of the 30 films I’ve seen this year. Hopefully a graphically swollen testicle prothesis makes you laugh. And convincing a young man to try and bribe somebody with a blow job…The writing wasn’t great. Maybe it’ll be on Netflix streaming and you can enjoy this bit of comedy.
Mighty No. 9! The latest kickstarter project … now with more support!
Mega Man. He’s a classic video game character. He’s the robot that blasts his way through scores of enemy robots. But … this isn’t a post about Mega Man. It’s a post about Mighty No. 9, the new upcoming game from the team behind Mega Man.
When I first heard about this project I knew I wanted to support it. I’m not great at this kind of game. But I like to encourage the development of this sort of nonsense. And $5 wouldn’t give me a copy of the game which was ok, because it was only being developed for PC. Well it seems like I wasn’t alone in my support for this project because not only has the $900k goal been achieved fairly quickly, but the kickstarter stretch goal for Mac/Linux support has been passed. And now I’ve gone back to kickstarter and increased my pledge to $20 so I will have a chance to play the game when it comes out…in 2015.

Planes: Needs More Mater. What’s the point of being in the World of Cars without Mater?
Super hot? Go see a movie! Today’s film … Planes. A computer animated film that had been planned as a direct to video movie from the DisneyToon Studios…released into theatres. It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t awful. But I can’t exactly recommend it. Continue reading “Planes: Needs More Mater. What’s the point of being in the World of Cars without Mater?”
@rainbowrowell’s brilliant summation of Fifty Shades of Grey
Without the explicit sex, it’s just a stern man teaching a bizarrely sheltered woman how to use email … Plus some contract law. #50SoG

The Mortal Instruments City of Bones movie instagram review
Briefly: Without Internet, I Can Do Nothing But Read
I’m dogsitting and I don’t have wifi. This means that my ability to post comments about things is severely limited. But on the other hand I finished a book yesterday and I’m going to finish another book today so … there’s that. And then I’ve left my iPhone behind. So don’t call me. Not that you ever do. ttfn
Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost…it’s The World’s End
Blah blah blah post blah blah blah movie blah blah review. So I don’t think I mentioned this yet but I occasionally post up at clever bee where I’m chuffed about things and that’s mainly because of jacksgap and tyler oakley who introduced the word into my vocabulary.
Lazy Post: Go see The World’s End
And now, more senseless ramblings on the movie. Probably with spoilers. Mostly nonsense. Continue reading “Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost…it’s The World’s End”
Three brothers and gravity – In the Path of Falling Objects by Andrew Smith @marburyjack
I finished a book today! In the Path of Falling Objects by Andrew Smith. Since there are apparently a billion Andrew Smith’s out there, it’s the Andrew Smith who wrote the best rugby book of 2013 Winger and the I’m not comfortable talking about it without at least a drink in me Stick.
There are three brothers. Matthew is a soldier in Vietnam. Jonah and Simon are his younger brothers and they live in the middle of nowhere, New Mexico. Their mother abandons them and their father is incarcerated in Arizona. Jonah and Simon depart on a journey hoping to meet up with Matthew in Arizona. The journey is the story.
